Friends Of Rittenhouse Square
www.friendsofrittenhouse.org Founded in 1976, it is a 501-C3 organization, offering membership a range of categories. The Friends raise money through a variety of activities, most notably the annual Ball on The Square, a gala in the park under a giant tent on the third Thursday of each June.
The Friends pay for all landscaping in the Square. They underwrote and managed the recent restoration of the historic Gardeners Cottage in the southwest corner of the Square.
In recent years, the Friends installed doggie bag dispensers and bike racks, renovated the Goat Bench, seeded the Square, and restored the wrought iron perimeter fence. The group helps orchestrate the planting of impatiens each May, and replaces diseased trees as needed.
