ABOUT THE ARTIST
I viewed Winslow Homer’s watercolor paintings as a teenager in NYC and knew it: that's what I'm going to do. Life had other plans, but I took workshops, painted when time allowed, and persevered for years. My work has been accepted in American Watercolor Society’s International Exhibitions and I earned Signature Membership in 2019.
ABOUT THE ART
I begin with a value study (my 'road map'), working on cold pressed paper. Transparent pigments allow me to mix rich, airy tones, juxtaposed to semi-opaque paints for contrasts. It can be unpredictable, but I go with the flow, and gently nudge it to get what I am looking for.
