ABOUT THE ARTIST
I am a semi-abstract artist that draws most my inspiration from my travels, especially from my time living in St. Thomas, USVI. I try to capture the feelings I experienced while living in this location as well as other places I've been able to enjoy. I am truly inspired by the beauty of nature around me and am excited when another can see and experience that joy through my paintings. I use cold wax and oil but also add in sand, ash, or sometimes paper. All of these components create different textures and translucency. As I create on wooden panels it allows for many layers, excavating, and rebuilding. Then I love to use various tools to create mark making on my pieces. In the end, I have created a piece that is loaded with texture and translucency that is truly beautiful to touch and see.
ABOUT THE ART
Paintings are created with cold wax, sand, ash, paper and oil. Adding the wax with oil can create a translucency and a diffusing of light to appear. The wax also allows for mark making and texture. The textures can range from velvety smooth to a rough, jagged surface, inviting the looker to touch.
