ABOUT THE ARTIST
I typically start my process with a sketch or full-color abstract piece. From there, I gather ideas and merge them with others from my library of mixed media papers and canvas. After pulling together a cohesive bunch of shapes, colors, and imagery, I marry them together laying them out on a prepared board. Days of thinking and manipulation follow, and then I temporarily tape these collage pieces down and cut them into form. I discard the waste which provides me with a color-flowing, meaningful, inlaid image. The process is fine-tuned and adhered to the board resulting in a flush-surface, brilliant mixed media collage.
ABOUT THE ART
My collage begins by painting a variety of mediums on paper/canvas. I cut, dismantle, and color categorize these for my color palette. I inlay the cut pieces to make one cohesive, puzzle-like image.
