ABOUT THE ARTIST

I have been a full-time working artist since 1999. I have had several bodies of work over the years and have settled on a subject matter near and dear to my heart. My imagery consists of mainly nostalgic beach and lake life subjects that I remember or remind me of my childhood. I hand build each wooden substrate that I paint my original paintings. I have always been a very handy person, even from childhood, if I could make it I would rather than buying anything for myself. I simply purchase all my raw materials and build each cradle, sand and prime numerous times then paint my subject matter. I love to find vintage photos from my family albums or old black and white snapshots of others on-line. Any 1950s, 60s or 70s era is my genre, I like to give the vintage imagery a modern sometimes impressionistic take of my own.

ABOUT THE ART

Hand-built birch cradles in large sizes, primed and sanded multiple times. Acrylic on birch with minimalistic subject matter in midcentury content. Each piece is sanded between layers of acrylic coats to give a smooth clean texture. My art is a modern approach to vintage and nostalgic imagery.
