ABOUT THE ARTIST
I’m inspired by my own memories of making art as a child as well as current life observances, especially in nature and humor. My work is unique because of the profuse amount of pencil drawings on top of the paint. It’s also unusual how I use oil stick as a resist underneath the paint.
ABOUT THE ART
My playfully expressive paintings focus on strong shapes and bright colors. I make symbols in oil stick on heavy canvas. Layers of acrylic paint follow, then I scrape back down to the resist of the oil. Pencil drawings go on top of the acrylic - a story to explore up close.
