ABOUT THE ART
I start with a complimentary color toned canvas. I pre-mix and layout my colors from a limited palette, making sure they are the correct values and colors. I use brushes, color shapers, foamcore, palette knives - letting some undertone peak through.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Forty years ago, I began painting as a watercolorist. Fifteen years ago, I found oils. Blocking in chunks of color has helped me see the big picture more quickly. Oil painting has taught me to paint larger than I thought I possibly could.
