Lisa Budd

West Creek

I have always wanted to paint watercolor since seeing Winslow Homer's work at the Met Museum as a teenager. It's been a juggle of raising a family, working in the architectural field, while learning to paint on the side. After many years, I paint full time and earned Signature Membership in the American Watercolor Society in 2019.

Watercolor is typically described as a 'difficult medium' because its transparent nature doesn't allow for correcting mistakes. That is a bad rap in my opinion. Watercolor just wants play, have some fun, and open you up to the unexpected surprises it has in store for you. Because you can never fully control it, it never gets boring!
