ABOUT THE ARTIST
Sumiyo Toribe was born in Kyoto, Japan during September 1973. She received MFA in painting from Savannah College of Art and Design in 1998. She instructs art classes online, privately, and at the college level. She received several awards, a grant, and published an art book and a children's book.
ABOUT THE ART
Toribe's work exists between expressive and impressionistic, and appears both abstract and representational. Western and Eastern influences can be detected. Toribe's watercolor technique is using water to make spontaneous marks and create a lively flow of energy.
