ABOUT THE ARTIST
I am an originals only oil painter. My work all starts on location. I do studies in Plein Air in watercolor. Bring those studies to the studio and do a small study in oil. I mix most of my paint from dry pigment or enhance existing tubes of paint with pigment. Then I use the small studies in oil for the larger paintings . So my process is longer and a step by step one, before I get to the final product. My view of my surroundings is usually abstracted through my eyes, and I do show this in the work. Same for color. It's not unusual to see pink in the grass in my work.
ABOUT THE ART
I push the boundaries of realism into abstraction, using a variety of color, hues and pigments. I mix my own oil paint from pigment, using the paint to enhance what color I see. Paint is either mixed from the raw materials or existing colors are enhanced with added pigment.
