ABOUT THE ARTIST
I am inspired by the sense memory of location, both tiny interiors and wide open spaces. I use intense colors and thick textures applied with palette knife to evoke a dramatized version of tender places. The cold wax medium I use adds to the robustness of the paint, underlining the solidity of the space.
ABOUT THE ART
Paintings are begun with loose, bright washes of color. Then a palette knife is used to apply a top layer of oil paint mixed with cold wax medium, giving the piece its thick texture.
