ABOUT THE ARTIST
I love clouds. They're in constant motion and I'm fascinated by this abstract ballet whether over beaches, barns, seashores or skyscrapers. My paintings are many layered oils on canvas. I begin with a blank white surface on which I apply a multi-colored ground which causes the next layers to really sing. Next I mix paint: my favorite task.Working with exquisite high quality oil paint is like squeezing jewels from tubes.I establish the light source and flavor the clouds with yellows, pinks and violets appropriate to the time of day, season and weather. My inspiration comes from gazing at the heavens over salt ponds and seagrass, laughing gulls, egrets and eagles that I meet at the beach off season. I love bikes and balloons. They lift my heart.Passion to paint is ignited by the views from the Brooklyn/Queens Expressway, the GW Bridge, the farms of Delaware and Virginia, the stunning Smoky Mountains, the Henderson Swamp, and practically everywhere I travel. I explore dreams, memories and fantasies of music and dance with my brush.
ABOUT THE ART
I manipulate color with layers of oil paint on canvas to combine abstraction with representation and drafting.I choose subjects that dance through my imagination and I keep painting until I love it. My goal is to communicate that feeling to the audience. I strive to ignite joy with my brush.
