ABOUT THE ARTIST

Having quit college studying architecture to focus on a glass studio I started, my themes are frequently architectural, exploring our relationship to the built environment and feelings of belonging or alienation that arise from perceptions of place.
I create a unique mold for each piece. Typically I hand-cut glass and affix to the mold, texture is created with relief carving, paper and/or plant material in the mold as well. When the design is complete the piece is cast with lightweight concrete. Color is added after the piece has cured.

ABOUT THE ART

Lightweight cast concrete wall sculpture with various textures, treatments and pigments including glass, found objects, encaustic, handmade paper, concrete stains and plant material. The work is cast in a handmade form. Texture and/or bas-relief are created in the form before the concrete is cast.
