ABOUT THE ART
Over an acrylic under painting I make marks with charcoal, pastel and graphite. I then apply collage with papers and textures. After I use oil paint mixed with cold wax and a limited palette to apply layers of color. I remove paint using reductive methods to uncover the history in layers beneath.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
I have always been an oil painter of landscapes but in the past they were far more literal. I am inspired by the landscape but not interested in representing what others can see themselves but to feel, paint and hope others feel the quiet when they view my work. I am inspired by process and intuition and I paint trusting my instinct. I want my paintings to feel like a deep breath and an exhale.
