Printmaking
ABOUT THE ART

I make woodcut prints with an etching press on (mostly) BFK paper. Some are made with single blocks, some with multiple blocks, some are reduction prints, and I often incorporate aspects of monoprinting.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

I delight in the alchemy of printmaking, that transmutes a visual idea through crucibles of drawing, carving, inking, and printing, into a finished image that may hold some surprises for me and hopefully some delight for its viewer. With it I strive to create connections - between myself and my viewer by sharing a moment of visual excitement, whimsy, intrigue, or poetry that I've witnessed, or between us in the daily world and the universe of dreams, magic, and imagination. I enjoy the graphic drama and simplicity of black and white prints and continue to make them, but I'm also excited by exploring the boundaries of color printmaking, including aspects of monoprinting, to create more painterly prints.
