Stephen Anglim

Since a young age, I’ve loved taking photos of everyday life. What begins as a spontaneous, in-the-moment activity often turns into hours of deliberation, where I enjoy deciding which photos work best as painting references. Taking these compositions to canvas and infusing them with my own creative choices is invigorating. It allows me to transform fleeting moments and memories into permanent, tangible pieces.

In my work, I’ve developed two distinct styles: a traditional, realistic approach to tranquil coastal scenery and a more expressive, street-art-inspired technique for depicting energetic urban life, where I've developed a layering process with acrylic-based paint markers. For now, I’m captivated by the contrast between these styles and settings, which echoes the dynamic nature of life as I live it—a balance of work and play, hustle and relaxation.
