I work on linen canvas, both acrylic primed and oil primed. Lately, I have started laying in a tone for the canvas, then drawing and values with burnt umber/white, and finally scattered color.

I use oil paints in many different ways to produce my work. I utilize alla prima, layers, and glazes on canvas, wood panel, and linen.

I paint on large scales; I begin with a bold or fluorescent acrylic base, then add several translucent layers overtop. Figures, motifs, and landscapes are carved out with careful opacity and linework.
