ABOUT THE ART
These mixed-media pieces are oil paint and oil pastel on canvas. Generally, the work starts with thin layers of oil paint, and subsequent layers of oil pastels, adding drawing elements and texture.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
For the past several years I've been interested in water imagery. I enjoy the subject in its own right, but I also like it as a vehicle for exploring drawing. The patterns and textures of the water surface, as well as the endless color variations of reflected light, are wonderful sources for using color, line, and the calligraphy of drawing and painting.
