ABOUT THE ART
Limited edition relief prints & monotypes made from carved linoleum & wood blocks, often using the reduction cut method. Several prints also include hand-set type using non-traditional typesetting techniques. The monotypes use a process that involves several layers without the use of a press at all.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
I am inspired by what is around me, both inside my house (I love the design aesthetics of mid-century objects), & what I see in nature- mainly birds native to my area. No matter the medium I've used over the years, color if always at the forefront of my designs.
On the technical side, I use a very non-traditional (& challenging!) method of setting vintage metal type to create new shapes & textures. Additionally, my monotypes are created mostly without the use of a printing press at all, using techniques I've been experimenting with over the past several years. This allows me to use much more color and work much faster to make one-of-a-kind pieces.
