Drawing/Pastel
ABOUT THE ART

My pastel paintings are about my admiration towards nature. I use soft pastels on mounted sanded paper or on Gatorboard sized and texturized with pastel ground. Most of the time I do a pastel and alcohol monochromatic underpainting to establish shapes and values before the dry mark-making.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

I was one of those kids who "knew how to draw" and whose favorite activity was painting with aquarelles. I was also the only artistic kid in a family full of lawyers and engineers, hence I didn't see art nor was encouraged to pursue it as a career. When I was 17 I enrolled in a 5 year Industrial Design program in Los Andes University (Venezuela) which I enjoyed but wasn't passionated about, then after graduating I moved to London, UK, to learn english and see a little more of the world (a complete different world). Life has taken me on many different directions; ranging from waiting tables in restaurants (London), designing fancy kitchens for fancy people (Venezuela), helping frustrated customers with their compromised bank accounts (USA). But my artistic expression has always been my happy place. Three years ago I decided to quit my banking job and pursue art as my full time occupation. Best decision ever. I wish I had done it sooner but better late than never!
