ABOUT THE ART

Oil paint is applied in layers, often allowing previous layers to show through to offer a sense of depth and textural interest. Compositions are informed by plein-air studies, sketches, and photo notes. In my current work there is an emphasized interplay between positive and negative space.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

My work is inspired by the sacredness of nature—the quiet moments where light, space, and form become gateways to something greater. Through my paintings, I seek to evoke a sense of connection to a larger wholeness, a oneness that exists beyond words and motion.
Ultimately, my intention is not just to depict a scene, but to offer an experience—a contemplative pause—that calls the viewer inward toward a sacred stillness that lives within us all.
Each composition is an invitation into that stillness—a place where the boundaries between self and landscape begin to dissolve. I am drawn to the subtle, often-overlooked moments that remind us of our deep belonging in the natural world.
My creative process starts on a venture…a walk, a bike ride, a drive, a vacation. I always have a camera with me and often will revisit a location several times to sketch or paint a demo before composing in the studio. I look for moments that stop me in my tracks; something I just need to share with someone. Sometimes it’s just a cloud formation or the way a wave wraps around rocks. I find nature to be a challenging teacher that continuously pushes my limits and makes me a better painter.
