About the ART

Abstract work created with multiple layers of oil and cold wax or encaustic (molten wax) on cradled wood panels, stretched canvas, or paper, occasionally including collaged elements of original prints, found papers, or photography. Organic forms are inspired by plants, water, and local topography.

About the ARTIST

I am inspired by color combinations found in nature, gardens, rural, and urban settings. I enjoy creating abstract pieces that allow the viewer to interpret them in their own way. Starting with an underpainting on a wood panel, I build up oil and cold wax layer by layer to add colors, shapes, and embellishments to draw in the viewer. Collage elements and various mark making tools are used to add interest and depth. I use my phone’s camera to do quick color, contrast, and mass studies at various stages of the painting.
