ABOUT THE ARTIST

My work reflects the joy I experience in observing the natural world. I've developed a collage technique in which I peel paper down to the pigment layer before gluing. I make paints using pigments bound with soybean extract, a technique I learned while studying Japanese stencil dyeing in Japan.

ABOUT THE ART

I use acrylics, woodcut, ink and pigments to make collages. The collage elements are then glued onto stretched paper using wheat starch paste and a pounding brush. I also make large paintings on paper using Japanese stencil dyeing (a paste-resist technique) as a starting point.
