ABOUT THE ARTIST
Ultimately, my paintings filter the nostalgia for my Texan roots through the lenses of pop culture, daydream, & fantasy. I find joy in merging beauty with absurdity, where dreamlike imagery is grounded in realism. My techniques adapt traditional Renaissance & Baroque underpainting & glazing methods.
ABOUT THE ART
Acrylic and oils on canvas & wood panel. I sketch & collage my entire composition before painting. The painting starts with a traditional monochromatic underpainting in acrylic, then a series of translucent glazes of color using oils to create vivid saturation. Frames are handbuilt in pine or oak.
