ABOUT THE ARTIST
I'm trained in interior design. I am self taught in clay, which coincided with a loss of our puppy to a brain disease. I began pursuing an interest in animal sculpture as a result of that. Attending a workshop in England, further advanced my aesthetic. Beeswax is added to finish each piece.
ABOUT THE ART
I make an armature of cardboard tube, newspaper, using wood skewers for additional dimension. I then slice clay and layer the armature. I add colored slips, underglazes and fire. Additional layers of glaze and refire. A final coat of molten beeswax is then applied to achieve the patina.
