Mixed Media
ABOUT THE ART

My paintings are narrative stories built around a central idea or image. Using a mix of acrylic paint, charcoal and found elements like magazine clippings, each piece layers textures and visuals to create a deeper, unfolding story.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

I have been making art for as long as I can remember. It's hard not to, growing up with a dad who was an art professor, a mom who studied art before moving into interior design, and a grandmother who was a retired elementary school teacher. During our summer stays with my grandparents my grandmother had my brother, sister and me cutting, gluing and collecting - piecing together found objects and natural materials on paper, bottles or whatever was at hand. I'm still drawn to mixed materials. Images clipped from magazines and catalogs often serve as my starting point. I love the contrast between photographic imagery and layers of paint, charcoal and the figures that emerge to inhabit the evolving story.
