ABOUT THE ART
I draw with watercolor pencils, graphite, pastels, wax pencils and ink, over a collage background of old maps, antique encyclopedia pages, and other materials chosen to evoke my subject. I add color in layers with gouache and acrylics, which blend with my drawn lines, adding movement and depth.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
I am drawn to subjects that combine movement, strong perspective, and narrative. I am especially interested in unusual viewpoints, overlooked details of urban environments, and the expressive potential of scale — such as translating intimate subjects onto large surfaces. I want to reveal the poetry and tension embedded in familiar places.
Technically, my approach blends classical materials in an unconventional structure. I use collage as a subtle underlying layer that adds historical and contextual depth beneath what may initially appear to be a simple image. For drawing, I choose flexible materials such as watercolor pencils, which allow me to reactivate and reshape my lines when painting into them. This interaction between drawing and painting enables me to create ambiguous transitions between structure and mood, reinforcing both movement and depth within my composition.
