ABOUT THE ART
First I draw each piece and then paint with hand made water color on handmade paper with metallic paints made from pigments by me, to achieve different variations in metallic colors & sheens. All my work is original and can never be reproduced. Each drawing is created by me
ABOUT THE ARTIST
These words below have inspired me since I was 16.
Mughal King Bahadur Shah Zafar :
"All that I loved is gone Like a garden robbed of its beauty by Autumn I am only a memory of splendour."
While the words are about loss, the inspiration was to look back at that splendour, to interpret and bring it to life in a visual form, by a medium that stems from a centuries old technique of water colors used by artists who produced Moghul miniature paintings. In this form history was handed down through paintings and poems, as combined they spoke of the history and art.
My added influences are of Pre-Raphaelite, Arts and Craft and Deco artists such as Rossetti, Burne-Jones, Voysey, Macintosh, Bakst and William Morris.
As miniatures were done with 24karat gold, I make my own paints to get that effect and work in various metallic pigments along with a combination of colors. My work is original only and can never be reproduced. I have also hand finished my frames at times to give a unique finish if the painting demands. My husband helped me start selling at art shows more than two decades ago and I have never looked back
