Mixed Media
ABOUT THE ART

Original abstract landscape paintings created with a mixture of beach sand, recycled wood fibers, shredded paper, industrial staples, plaster and 30 to 50 layers of acrylics applied to either canvas or wood panels by hand without the use of brushes or palette knives.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

I am a Canadian born, Chicago-based, self-taught artist that began my artist journey back in the summer of 2004. As a mixed media abstract painter I am inspired by the world around us. When I travel, a specific location or something as simple as a color that I see, can cause inspiration for my work, with water being one of the strongest elements I am influenced by.
One thing that is unique with my technique, is that I paint strictly with my hands, not using a brush or palette knife for the majority of my work. I incorporate a variety of textures that include beach sand from my family cottage in Ontario, industrial staples, studio paperwork that I have shredded, plaster and anywhere from 30 to 50 layers of color.
