ABOUT THE ART
Nature is what inspires my work. When working on canvas, I incorporate many unusual materials to create my base & paint with Acrylics. And when it's paper, I pretreat handmade paper with tea & coffee grounds & paint with gouache. Fine details in my painting are achieved by using 000 brushes.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Rinal Parikh is a contemporary mixed-media artist based in Media, Pennsylvania, known for her vibrant fusion of traditional Indian folk art and modern visual storytelling. Born and raised in India, Rinal’s creative roots draw deeply from the folk art traditions of Warli, Madhubani, and Kalamkari, which she reinterprets through her own contemporary lens.
Her work celebrates color, texture, and narrative, often incorporating unconventional materials — such as sand, grass, handmade paper, and details with 000 brushes — to create richly textured canvases and works on paper. Inspired by nature, her surroundings in suburban Pennsylvania, and her life experiences, her art bridges cultural heritage and everyday stories from both India and the United States.
Before becoming a full-time artist, Rinal trained as a biochemist and worked in laboratory settings. Her transition into art began organically after moving to the area and exhibiting at community art fairs — and she has been painting professionally since her first solo exhibit in 2009.
