Oil/Acrylic
ABOUT THE ART

These are impressionistic, oil on canvas, naturescapes. They begin with a boldly-colored underpainting that peaks through, and are finished with thick, short, impasto strokes, providing a highly-textured mosaic finish. I tend to stick with a bold, jewel-toned palette.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

I am inspired by connecting my stories to other's stories. I draw upon my own experiences with nature and mostly use my own reference photos to work from. I have developed a technique that's become known as 'mosaic impressionism.' I paint in oils and have moved to Belgian Linen exclusively and professional grade paints. For the painting, I begin with a solid color base and then continue with a fairly realistic monochromatic underpainting. Upon that, I begin my color process. It's several layers of color, using short, repetitive brush strokes that resemble a mosaic.
