About the ART
About the ARTIST

This body of work is about shared memories of putting our feet into the water for the first time. These paintings are a play between realism and abstraction and use transparent glaze layers to offer subtle color shifts and perceived depths of the water.

I'm focused on oil painting, and specifically indirect painting. I make a detailed drawing before I paint, and when I paint I use thin layers of washes and glazes. Focusing on older aesthetics isn't a norm nowadays and that's something I hope changes, but that I enjoy a slow build of the surface. The focus is for creating a surface that mirrors the shallow depth of the waters edge on a beach, the areas that have strong tactile sensations on our feet, but create vivid images in our minds.
